When Face-tattoo-dad and Leather-pants-mom Show You That You're Late

It's funny how when you're kid says something is a 6pm start time, you believe 6pm to be the right time to get there. But sometimes, kids are told to get places early. I always find that watching the other parents who are showing up with their kids to be a good gauge of what time my kid was told to be there.

I'm not talking about Mom and Dad showing up late. The parents to watch are those who are driving the kids. If the dad with the face tattoo and the unrelated mom with her leather pants get to venue with their respective kids while you wait for your own spouse to show up with your kid, that means you're late. Your kid was told to be there by 5:40, and the 6pm start time was meant for parents traveling separately. Or grandparents, who were all there by 5:15, anyhow. Luckily for my family, we only have a few school-related events left before we get to show up 45 minutes early as grandparents.
