I was doing research on local history, and I figured maybe the library would have some books for me. I was kind of right, maybe. I found a rare books page https://www.jaxpubliclibrary.org/rare-books-manuscripts . It seems to list a few books, but only a few. And all the links are dead. No pdf versions of the books or image galleries.
When I searched for one of the books, it seems Google Books has it listed with links to read it online, but for some reason, the JAX library no longer has access.
Here's a cool image from the book by Thomaso Porcacchi. A map of the New World.
Still, it's kind of weird that our Jacksonville library advertises rare books (only a few) and doesn't seem to have them online. Maybe there are some at the main downtown location.
