While I am not sure if it means there are simply more people with flood insurance in Texas and Louisiana or that storms hit there more often or what. But based on total coastline, Florida is a bargain for taxpayers in comparison. By the way, according to the Congressional Research Service, Alaska is #1 in coastline, Florida 2, California 3, Hawaii 4, Louisiana 5, and Texas 6.
I'm pretty sure none of this will matter next year when our nation's flood insurance program will go bankrupt. I'm not sure where we go from here if that does happen, but for now, it's good that Florida has some insurance if needed.
